Jim is the Principal of JC Legal Group and established the firm in 2019, following almost 40 years in partnership. Having practised law for over 45 years, Jim brings extensive experience, sound judgement and a practical approach to assisting clients across a broad range of legal matters.

Jim practises principally in Family Law, Wills and Estates and Commercial Law, providing clients with comprehensive, pragmatic and personalised legal advice. His approach is focused on understanding each client’s individual circumstances and achieving sensible outcomes that recognise both the legal issues involved and the commercial realities of the matter.

In Family Law, Jim advises and represents clients in all areas, including divorce, parenting and children’s matters, property settlements and financial disputes, as well as matters involving de facto and domestic partnerships. Drawing on more than four decades of experience, Jim assists clients to navigate what can often be complex and highly personal circumstances with clarity, perspective and a strong focus on practical resolution.

Jim also has significant experience in Wills and Estates, assisting clients with estate planning, wills and related matters, together with Commercial Law matters requiring considered, commercially focused advice. His broad legal background enables him to provide clients with a well-rounded perspective, particularly where family, personal and commercial considerations intersect.

Throughout his career, Jim has placed considerable importance on developing long-standing relationships with clients and providing advice that is clear, accessible and tailored to their needs. His focus remains on delivering a high level of personal service while working towards outcomes that are both legally sound and commercially realistic.

Outside of JC Legal Group, Jim closely follows his beloved Geelong Cats in the AFL and has a keen interest in horse racing. He also enjoys travelling and spending time with friends and family.
